A Singer's Exemplary Repentance IncidentFaith-enhancing incident of Hazrat Umar (R.A)

In this blog post I have narrated a Faith-enhancing incident of Hazrat Umar (R.A) and a singer. This story is about a singer who is oppressed by poverty, poverty and circumstances. He had many regrets about his past life. This is an interesting story of his repentance.

Let's Start the Story

"A Singer's Exemplary Repentance IncidentFaith-enhancing incident of Hazrat Umar (R.A)”

During the Caliphate of Hazrat Umar (R.A), a mukhanas (eunuch) lived in Medina. He used to sing secretly and fulfill his passion. People used to give him money. Inside the house, this business of his was going on and he was living.

Even as he grew old, he became weak, lost his voice and lost his business. Now the destitute camped in his house and began to starve.

One day, he (eunuch) sat behind a bush in the cemetery of Madinah and began to call upon Allah:

“O Allah! When I had my voice, people listened. When there was no sound, people stopped listening. O Allah! You hear the call of all. You know that I am old and weak. I am free from hunger and poverty. O Allah! Although I am your disobedient servant, I am your servant. You love your servant more than a mother. Although I am polluted by the impurity of sins, I am not hopeless of your mercy. Take pity on me and help me.”

Hazrat Umar (RA) was lying in the Mosque Nabavi. He heard a voice:

“O Omar! My servant is calling out to me. Go to his aid immediately. Hear his cry. Fulfill his need.

Hazrat Umar woke up from his sleep and ran towards Jannat al Baqi (graveyard in Madina) with his bare feet. When he reached there, he saw that it was the same singer, which is behind the bush. Hazrat Umar got scared and got up and started running.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“Hold on! Don't be afraid of me. I have not come, but have been sent.

He said:

“Who sent you?

Hazrat Umar (R.A) said:

“He has sent whom you are calling.

Now he looked at the sky and said:

“O Allah! I have spent 70 years disobeying you. I have never missed you till today and if I have missed you today, it is for the sake of my stomach. You also accepted my cry. O Allah! I am very ashamed of what I have done, please forgive me.

He wept as if out of fear of Allah Almighty to such an extent that he lost his life. Allah Almighty forgave him.

Hazrat Umar, may God bless him and grant him peace, himself performed the funeral for him. He was buried in Jannat al-Baqi.

Thank You
